Theresa Corbin: “The Climb Down”

Poetry

The Climb Down

Thank you
to all the beaus
who never stirred saved me.
Thank you to all the princes oh so “charming”,
amused by my low hanging, lily delicate locks
but never bothering to climb,
climb
and climb
to rescue their owner
in that terrifying tower.
I rescued myself,
I climbed,
climbed
and climbed
down and life is fuller for it.
It was Ashley, my sweet Ashley,
that showed this Scarlett
she
could
do it!
