Rose Auslander – “New Again” – A Poem

New Again

The saints march past
a foundation under nothing here,
steps to nowhere there,
a boat in the street

ready to sail past
a girl sitting
in the door of a trailer,
in the rain

a man hammering
a door to a house
that isn’t there,
hammering a spark

to blow the roof off
empty windows,
broken homes, and
let the good times roll.
