blue iris buds
circle the vase
a corps de ballet

the flagpole’s shadow
slowly shifts
another cold beer
**
cool shadows
shift and loom, altered
by the candid moon
a red bat sipping nectar
from a white trumpet bloom
**
The sign warns:
do not feed the fish.
As I watch the koi beg,
an old woman tells me
they like Cheerios.
