Jozef Lisowski – “Snow Days” – A Poem

Snow Days

It snowed this morning
(or so I heard).
Wasn’t much snow by the time I got up,
though. Just a dandruffy powdering
on the back porch,
and a tell-tale cloudy sky.

The forecast promised a lot of snow
Yeah, I thought,
if you’re an insect.
Humans, on the other hand,
got stiffed.

It snowed later today, too
(or is snowing now)
Wispy thin flakes that
grew bigger the longer you
looked at them.
They fall quickly,
painting the sky white
in delicate brushstrokes.
Yet despite their speed,
the ground remains blank,
barren,
a snowstorm for ants.
