Samantha Cagle – Poem

Long, quiet, and rather claustrophobic winter

Moonlight and shadows fight
A tremor in the air preceding a rock fall,
Merry waltz tune quarreling in the trees.
“Men must not cut down trees; there is a God.”
Ice is the queen of the river.
The sun’s a poking umbrella.
