F.A.Q.

gravestones.jpg

  • Q - What happened to the Dead Mule a couple years ago?
A - It was attacked (hacked).
  • Q - My writing is missing, can you put it back up?
A - If you have a copy please send it to macewan@gmail.com.
  • Q - What are you doing to prevent this in the future?
A - We’ve moved to a more secure server, implemented a different backup program and switched the backend from a proprietary (closed source) L.A.M.P. written by Robert to an OpenSource L.A.M.P. system. (Read more about what Robert does with proprietary (closed soure) L.A.M.P. on Newsforge.)
  • Q - I can’t find…
A - Either use our search page (link at bottom of this page) or search with Google.
  • Q - But I used MSN Search and can’t find…
A - Again, either use our search page (link at bottom of this page) or search with Google.
  • Q - Do you require/want/request/care that I cite first appearance on DeadMule.com when I re-sell the piece?
A - All rights revert to author upon publication. You should, most definitely, tell us when your writing will appear elsewhere.  We don’t reprint articles (as a general rule) and many other journals feel the same way. You must remember this, a kiss is but a kiss, a sigh is but a sigh… the Internet will still remember your writing, as time goes by. Once online always online. And if you don’t credit the Mule and the publication finds out your piece has been previously published, you risk losing credability, as well as a potential audience. This is the age of the Internet and all pages can be found online, even if one has to resort to the WayBackMachine.
