Fall Fiction and ya’ll listen up now, hear?

We’re absolutely thrilled with the response from writers thus far — ya’ll know how to do more with 750 words than we ever thought possible.

We will accept short shorts (who wears short shorts?) through the fall and into December. They’re so damn much fun to read, send us some more. Look for the September issue to go live on the 15th. Can’t wait for ya’ll to read it.

Dead Mule Spelling Bee:

ya’ll

: the correct spelling for a combination of two words commonly said in the Southern region of the United States. You + all. Ya’ll can be plural or singular. It can also be plural possessive as in “ya’ll’s's. Those out there in the provinces who claim “y’all” as the proper way to combine these two words?

Illogical deduction.
If y + all is a TRUE statement and represents the contraction of you + all,
then it would logically follow that
d + not = don’t but it doesn’t.
d + not = d’not.

So y + all is a FALSE statement.

Therefore

ya + ll = ya’ll

a TRUE statement.

Thus spake the Mule.
