Dead Mule Writers (in this case, poets)

November 23rd, 2007

The Dead Mule prides itself in being family. You know, writers who support each other. Here are some comments from recent Mule poets that I found on the web. This is not an attempt to find all comments nor an attempt to imply that others have not left comments elsewhere nor even an indication that we don’t know this is a holiday weekend and some people are simply unavailable. It’s just some of the comments I found on my blog and the blogs of other poets.

Great line up for The Mule…esp. Evie and Jilly who are two of my faves. Love the updated look of your blog, too. Collin Kelley

I am so happy to be in this group and joining the Dead Mule Family! This is the most excited I have been about a publication! Jessie Carty

I have some poetry up at the Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. These poems are formal poems, including a dactylic poem that made electricity come out of my forehead when I was trying to write it. I don’t think I’ll be writing any more dactylic poems anytime soon. So go read my poems and the other poets’ poems & be sure to not miss Dale Wisely’s poems because his poems just kill me. Jilly Dybka

The cover photo, by Bill Losse, will bring a much-needed smile. Sherry Chandler

Great new issue of the Mule. Enjoying the read. Sam Rasnake

By the way, Valerie MacEwan has a new poem on her blog and mine. As editors, we don’t publish our own work, but we are writers first. Be sure to take a peek.

Edit: The comments continue.

Ahhhh…I love the Mule. I just now had time to read and what a good issue it is! Pris Campbell

I’ve got three poems up at the Dead Mule School of Southern Literature– I have been remiss in not mentioning this earlier, not because my work is superlative, but because poetry editor Helen Losse has worked really hard to find a series of representative Southern voices that’s broad and varied. Jilly Dybka and Jessie Carty are also in this issue, as is Evie Shockley, whose book a half-red sea I just picked up. Ross White

The Dead Mule does look great again this issue doesn’t it. . . . It is a great journal and Ross your poems are awesome. You are wracking up the kewl places to publish this year! Jessie Carty
