It’s about the tax man…

April 16th, 2007

He doth cometh today, does he not? The last minute revisions, the sweaty palms, the foul taste of stamp glue (or the anxiety-prone moments which come after all the windows are filled with info and you begin to wonder if Firefox is compatible with your tax software…), and then *whammo* *blamm0* it is done. Over…

So in the spirit of giving, I present to you the Spring 2007 issue of The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature. The next few moments will be spent publishing my interview with friend and hale-and-hearty good-fellow-well-met and all that — Doug Marlette. His book, Magic Time, comes out in paperback this summer, published by Picador. It’s a very good book. I say that with all sincerity and not because I admire Doug’s work in general. For those of you not privy to southern history or culture, it is a nice primer. And for those Mule fans who nod in agreement with the southern legitimacy statement, those who see yourself in our fiction and our writers — you will find Magic Time an accurate description of the South in the turbulent ’60s.

Then there’s my conversation with Connie May Fowler. It (the article) was accepted for publication by a magazine that, unfortunately went out of print. I saved it for the appropriate time… now.

oh… almost forgot, I’m loading photos today and tomorrow (Tuesday). Can’t wait for ya’ll to see them. I had a jolly time riding around and taking them.

And, for those bloggers who require more information –we’ll publish a compendium of mule formatting history soon. Robert’s writing it. This is WordPress, obviously (or not so obvious). I listened to John Mayer’s new album, Continuum, during most of the data entering process. Replay in iTunes is my friend. I also listen to Orff’s Carmina Burana when I need loud, inspirational sounds. That goes double for any and all Allman Brother’s albums. Eat a Peach — how southern is that?
