Allie Coker-Schwimmer: Caught Between Two Worlds

Poetry

Caught Between Two Worlds

One is Broadway, gaudy, expression, shameless, bold, ingenious, and full
Another is Bible, reserved, respectful, hospitable, innocent, charming, and pull
One is the city, the skyscrapers, the politics, education, origination, and money
The other is country, the fields, the football, religion, indecision, and honey
Each one proves the other wouldn’t be as good without each other
And in two worlds of black and white
I’m sinking into gray
